Kevin Durant shared his views on marriage and relationships during an interview on Bobbi Althoff’s podcast, Not This Again. The NBA star revealed he does not want to get married and prefers relationships with fewer expectations.
Durant, 37, explained that divorce seems more realistic to him given the high rates, making marriage a less appealing option. He said:
“I think divorce is actually more of a realistic… ‘cause I mean, the percent is higher.”
Although Althoff noted that about 50% of marriages end in divorce, Durant responded:
“That's not good odds.”
When reminded that he often faces tough odds in basketball, he added:
“Yeah. But still, that's like banking on the rest, like, forever though. … I don't know if I want to take those odds.”
Durant clarified that his hesitation is less about the word “marriage” itself and more about the reality of being with the same person every day:
“Do I want to be with this somebody every day? Hang with the same person every day?”
Regarding weddings, Durant said he never imagined having a wedding day or dreamed of it:
“I never really dreamt of having a wedding day. It was never really when I go to weddings. This is cool.”
Currently, Durant is not looking for a relationship or marriage and prefers to keep his expectations low.
Author’s summary: Kevin Durant prefers low-expectation relationships over marriage, citing the high divorce rate and personal reluctance to commit daily to one partner or a wedding ceremony.
