Travel Weekly previews Rick Stein's new restaurant, featuring a bleached Mediterranean beach theme, located at the soon-to-open 198-key InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach. The dining venue offers 224 seats spread across three distinctive areas.
The interiors create an intimate dining experience, including a 10-seater chef’s table and two 12-seater banquette areas. The walls feature two prominent artworks: an arrow squid and a school of fish.
Sass’s Bar, named for Stein’s Australian PR wife Sarah, occupies the former karaoke bar space of the former Crowne Plaza hotel. Stein is expected to arrive on December 20 after a soft launch serving only 80 guests.
The restaurant quickly attracted over 3,500 visitors to its booking site upon opening.
“Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” said Stein. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
