Seven neighbours from Brookmans Park have won a total of £1 million in the People’s Postcode Lottery. The winning postcode, AL9 6PT, was announced as this week’s “Millionaire Street.”
Among the winners was Steven Bean, 52, who secured a quarter-million-pound prize with his wife Olesya. He pledged to donate part of their winnings to support a local charity that helps adults with learning difficulties.
“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned,” said Steven Bean.
The charity, Camphill Milton Keynes, reported on October 9 that its only minibus had been stolen and later found destroyed by fire. Bean added:
“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”
Lucy Davies, head of development at Camphill, expressed gratitude and described how the incident had deeply affected the residents.
“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting,” said Lucy Davies.
Brookmans Park neighbours won a £1 million lottery, and winner Steven Bean pledged part of his prize to help a local charity recover after their bus was destroyed.
