The West Indies will embark on a multi-format tour of New Zealand starting November 22, 2025. The series will feature five T20 internationals, three one-day internationals, and three Test matches.
Before the T20I series, New Zealand’s former captain Kane Williamson announced his retirement from T20 internationals. He emphasized his focus on Test cricket, starting with the upcoming series against the West Indies.
“I remain fully committed to Test cricket and look forward to facing the West Indies in the new season,” said Kane Williamson.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert has been ruled out due to a broken finger sustained in a domestic match. Mitch Hay has been called up as his replacement, while Devon Conway remains a strong contender for the wicketkeeping position in the playing XI.
Seifert’s absence is a setback for New Zealand’s T20 preparations ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The 30-year-old has been in excellent form, maintaining a strike rate and average both exceeding fifty this year.
For the T20Is, spinner Gudakesh Motie has been omitted from the squad. Fast bowler Matthew Forde returns after recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in August, strengthening the team’s pace options.
Details regarding match timings and streaming platforms will be announced closer to the beginning of the series.
The 2025 New Zealand–West Indies series promises a competitive start to the season, highlighted by Kane Williamson’s T20I retirement and fresh squad changes on both sides.
