A remarkable display of remembrance and community spirit will be showcased at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday. The project was led by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant at Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.
Maureen, with the help of her daughter and granddaughter, created an exquisite poppy-themed art installation. This beautiful intergenerational tribute will be prominently displayed at the church entrance. Maureen will also have the honour of walking alongside the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
The poppy display was crafted at the Annandale communal lounge, where Maureen brought her vision to life with support from her family and the Tamworth Borough Council’s Scheme Manager. The lounge became a creative hub, producing a stunning collection of handcrafted poppies.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
