A new international passenger rail line began trial operations on Monday, connecting Mohan Railway Station in Mengla County, Yunnan Province, China, with Boten Railway Station in Laos. This is the first commuter-style international passenger rail link between the two countries.
Xia Mo, deputy general manager of Yunnan Tourism Co Ltd, the operator of the line, said the company will uphold the philosophy of “safety, professionalism, and dedication” to ensure travelers experience “the convenience and warmth of this road of friendship.”
The new service connects directly with the China–Laos Railway, facilitating seamless road–rail intermodal transport for international passengers. This development is expected to improve cross-border travel convenience and strengthen regional connectivity.
