Toronto Powers Up 500 EV Chargers in Push for Electric Future

The Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) and Toronto Hydro have achieved a significant milestone in the city’s electric mobility development by activating the 500th public electric vehicle (EV) charging station within Canada’s largest municipally owned network. The latest charger is located at Green P Carpark 504 on Willingdon Blvd., further broadening access citywide.

Partnership and Network Expansion

Since 2020, Toronto Hydro and TPA have collaborated to expand EV charging infrastructure throughout the city. Toronto Hydro initially launched the charging network before transferring ownership to TPA in 2023.

“Reaching 500 energized EV charging stations is a testament to what strong partnerships can achieve,” said Jana Mosley, President & CEO of Toronto Hydro.

Scott Collier, President of TPA, emphasized the importance of this growth in supporting EV adoption:

“Our mission is clear: to create a seamless mobility experience that delivers on Choice, Ease, and Speed for our customers.”

Impact on the City's Electric Mobility

This progress reinforces Toronto’s commitment to developing accessible, user-friendly electric vehicle infrastructure that encourages widespread EV use throughout the city.

Author's summary: Toronto's collaboration between Hydro and the Parking Authority has successfully expanded the city's EV charging network to 500 stations, significantly enhancing electric mobility and encouraging adoption.
