A Crown prosecutor has recommended a 12-year jail sentence without parole for Charlene Jane Alexander, convicted of second-degree murder.

Alexander fatally stabbed 26-year-old Jessie Mae Hayward-Lines outside the Prince George courthouse on July 2, 2020.

Tyler Bowman described the case as one of “bullying to the extreme” and stated that Alexander carried out a “purposeful and brutal act of violence” against Hayward-Lines, a gentle newcomer.

Alexander’s sentencing hearing was attended by loved ones of the victim, who expressed their grief and outpouring of emotions.
