eThekwini Municipality Accused of Dumping Waste
The eThekwini Municipality is facing allegations of illegal waste dumping in the Mount Moreland Conservancy for the second time this year.
ActionSA councillor Saul Basckin has opened a criminal case, citing environmental and public health concerns.
- In October, residents reported finding black refuse bags along the D757 road near the conservancy entrance.
- Baskin believes the bags were dumped by municipal contractors working in the area.
- A similar incident occurred in January, with a video showing workers loading black bags into a municipal-branded vehicle.
“It’s important to deal with the situation and take action.”
An internal investigation by the municipality in January found no wrongdoing.
