The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has refuted claims of withholding results of more than 34,000 candidates due to alleged examination malpractice.

According to John Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, the circulating reports are "factually inaccurate" as the Council has not issued any official statement confirming such figures.
WAEC is currently investigating irregularities recorded during the just-ended examinations but has not reached a conclusion or released statistics on the number of cases.
