The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, has disclosed that most of the violent incidents recorded during Ghana’s 2020 and 2024 general elections involved the use of firearms.

According to Muntaka, these incidents often resulted from confrontations between supporters of the two major political parties, as well as from the firing of live ammunition by security forces attempting to disperse crowds.

Muntaka addressed the press on November 4, 2025, to share the findings of investigations into election violence.
