Fresh Plans to Demolish Fire-Ravaged Bar and Build Flats
Developer Old School House has filed plans with Basildon Council to build 32 new flats on the site of Reid’s Bar and Grill, a fire-ravaged bar and restaurant in south Essex.
The bar, located on Billericay’s Laindon Road, has been closed since a fire in July 2022. Previous plans to convert the site were approved in 2024, but a second fire prevented their implementation.

The new proposal involves demolishing the derelict building instead of converting it. The planned development is currently under review by the council’s planning system.
