The Royal Canadian Legion's national poppy campaign is underway, supporting veterans and their families.
Poppies are available in-store and online, distributed by the legion's branches across Canada. Traditional poppy boxes can be found at thousands of locations.
Donations are collected during the campaign and held in trust at each branch. The legion asks for a donation to the Poppy Fund in exchange for a poppy.
The legion adopted the poppy as a symbol in 1921, inspired by
John McCrae's poem "In Flanders Fields", to commemorate the service and sacrifices of fallen soldiers.
The campaign runs from October 31 to November 11, Remembrance Day.
