The Shahat Antiquities Authority has announced the discovery of a new underground archaeological site in the city.
The find was made following fieldwork conducted by a team of researchers and specialists from the restoration department. The site consists of a circular structure with corridors branching out at depths of three to four meters.
Inside the structure, researchers uncovered various ceramic and pottery fragments, as well as a marble base bearing part of a statue that depicts a human foot wearing a sandal of Greek style.
