UNISON General Secretary Christina McAnea welcomed members from the south west to UNISON Centre to celebrate a major campaigning victory.
Members from Dorset, working across three NHS trusts, prevented the introduction of a subco that would have moved 1,700 facilities staff out of direct NHS employment, affecting their terms and conditions, including pensions.
This win is significant for porters, caterers, housekeepers, and other NHS facilities staff.
“Every time we’ve seen a subco, we’ve launched a campaign against it – and this was no different,” said Christina McAnea. “There was no way we were accepting it. Having members up for the fight is fantastic. Dorset’s victory is a brilliant example of how organising works.”
