Callander Knitters Honour Veterans with Poppy Banner

Members of the Callander Public Library Knitting Group have created a commemorative banner to honour local veterans.

The banner, measuring 77 inches long by about four feet wide, will be presented on Remembrance Day to Legion Branch 445.

“We saw that other Legions had done something similar, and we decided to do it ourselves.”

Lorna Ryan, a founding member of the knitting group, said the project felt like the right thing to do, and the group immediately got behind the cause.

Ryan emphasized,

“I’ve never missed a Remembrance Day service,”
and the group members felt this was a nice way to honour veterans.
