Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Byron Camilleri revealed that 2,752 people were denied Maltese citizenship via naturalisation in the past five years.

Of these, 756 were dependents, including children or family members who applied alongside primary applicants.

The information was disclosed in a parliamentary session in response to a question by PN MP Graziella Attard Previ, who sought transparency on citizenship refusals.
