Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last China Players Exit as Top Seed Bencic Progresses
China's last two representatives at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open were sent crashing out of the tournament on Wednesday, as No 1 seed Belinda Bencic marched on.
Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan lost in straight sets to Russia's Anna Kalinskaya and Switzerland's Bencic, respectively.
- Zhang Shuai lost to Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1.
- Wang Yafan lost to Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-2.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well.
Bencic continues her climb into the world top 10 after being ranked "913 or something" a year ago.
