The Welsh landscape hid the challenging 40-mile test for soldiers at this year's Exercise Cambrian Patrol.
Near Glynneath, over 1,000 troops prepared for battle, close to stunning waterfalls like Henrhyd Falls, which was swollen by Storm Amy's torrential rain during the first phase.
Officer Cadet Zara Pollock described the conditions as "the first time I've experienced horizontal rain."
Despite the harsh weather, 109 teams participated, with 20 gold medals, 54 silver, 22 bronze, and 8 completion certificates awarded.
A total of 5 patrols were unable to finish the challenging test.
