The Nobel prize in chemistry has been awarded to chemists who produced work that is truly chemical. This year's recipients, Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar Yaghi, were acknowledged for developing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
MOFs are highly porous materials that can capture and store a wide array of molecules. As Derek Lowe pointed out, this year's winners are a great choice for the Nobel prize in chemistry.
Derek Lowe has said exactly the same elsewhere in Chemistry World.
Author's summary: MOFs are a great choice for the Nobel prize in chemistry.
