While there weren't any major storylines that were missed on Sunday, NBC focused too much on the playoff drivers. Martinsville Speedway is a big deal these days with its positioning on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule.
However, it is another race on a short track, a type of track where the Next Gen car has struggled since its introduction in 2022. This time, NASCAR and Goodyear put their hopes on a new tire that was said to wear more and lay down more rubber.
Author's summary: NBC focused too much on playoff drivers at Martinsville.
I’m not really sure, for a couple of reasons. One, we never really got a good look on Sunday (Oct. 26) at what the wear was like on NBC.
Even with temperatures in the upper 50s for the whole race at best, the track seemed to be able to take rubber. However, I’m not really sure how times dropped off, because we didn’t get a good look at lap times on the broadcast. What we do know is that two tire stops did not work well.
