SC gives Vodafone Idea a breather
Vodafone Idea welcomed the decision, looking forward to working with the DoT to resolve the matter for its 200 million subscribers.
The Supreme Court permitted the DoT to reassess Vodafone Idea's adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, citing "peculiar facts and circumstances" of the case.
This move allows the debt-laden telecom service provider to seek a recalibration of its long-standing dues, which has affected its financial health for years.
The issue now lies within the policy framework of the Centre.
A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai stated there was no reason to bar the Union government from reassessing the amount claimed from Vodafone Idea.
