Journalists' Struggle for Environmental Coverage

30 journalists embody the struggle for freely reported environmental coverage, facing obstruction, threats, arrest, attack, jail, or even death.

From Cambodia to the Amazon, from France to Egypt, journalists covering stories related to natural resources are often persecuted. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) highlights 30 cases of persecuted journalists in the past year for covering environmental issues.

Our goal: to leave no breach of freedom of information unreported.

With COP30 beginning on 10 November in Belém, Brazil, RSF calls on governments to ensure the defence of reliable reporting is a key component of the fight against climate change.

Discover the world press freedom ranking, latest investigation reports, and daily publications from RSF's regional offices and network of correspondents in 115 countries.
