Comet 3I/ATLAS Approaching the Sun
The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is expected to approach the Sun on October 29 and 30.
It will pass the Sun at a distance of roughly 1.4 au, inside Mars' orbit.
Comet 3I/ATLAS was detected on July 1, 2025, by the ATLAS survey telescope in Chile.
According to a NASA official, Comet 3I/ATLAS originated outside of our solar system.
Astronomers and scientists are studying its size and physical properties.
