Artist Francis Bacon, known for his London antics, had a soft spot for Paris, where he lived and worked for 13 years.
Following his 1971 exhibition at the Grand Palais, Bacon took a small studio apartment in the French capital, with UK art historian Michael Peppiatt as his guide.
Bacon frequently came to Paris for two to three weeks at a time.
The City of Paris installed the plaque in the courtyard of Bacon's former studio-cum-apartment.
