Lakers' Jaxson Hayes Sits Out Against Timberwolves

The Lakers were down another big man for Friday night's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jaxson Hayes was ruled out for the playoff rematch against the Timberwolves because of left knee soreness. Coach JJ Redick said Hayes was being downgraded to unavailable after being listed as questionable Friday morning.

Hayes played 14 minutes in the season-opening loss to Golden State on Tuesday, recording four points and six rebounds. With Maxi Kleber sidelined for at least the next couple of weeks due to a strained oblique, the Lakers made two-way center Christian Koloko available against the Timberwolves.

Hayes was the primary backup big man behind starting center Deandre Ayton in Tuesday's season-opening loss to the Golden State Warriors.
