Interim AI guidance for US courts aims for experimentation with guardrails

Interim AI Guidance for US Courts

The federal judiciary has distributed interim guidance on artificial intelligence, allowing for the use of the technology while addressing procurement and security concerns.

According to a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee leadership, the guidance was developed by an AI task force formed earlier this year and distributed to federal courts on July 31.

Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts Director Judge Robert J. Conrad said the guidance enables courts to explore the technology while working on more permanent guidance.

The federal judiciary is also considering an AI information-sharing website.
