A joyous celebration was held in Walker on Friday to mark the end of construction on the Fruit Ridge Avenue bridge over I-96.
The city, along with the Michigan Department of Transportation and state lawmakers, celebrated the new bridge. The marching band from Kenowa Hills High School performed at the invite-only ribbon cutting.
The new bridge is a big improvement over the old two-lane bridge originally built in 1961.
The bridge is set to open on Monday, following one more round of detours this weekend.
