Conservatives argue that the cancellation of the contract may lead to Canada being perceived as an unreliable ally to Ukraine, undermining commitments to strengthening the domestic defence industry.
The federal government has refused to disclose the reason behind the cancellation of a contract for refurbished military vehicles for Ukraine with Armatec Survivability, a Canadian company.
Defence Minister David McGuinty told the House of Commons defence committee that his department had cancelled the contract, but couldn’t explain the reason behind the decision.
Armatec Survivability stated that they are still "ready, willing and able to supply" the vehicles.
