Two suspects have been arrested and later released without charges in connection with a shootout in Oakland that resulted in the death of John "Mica" Esquibell, 28, a manager at a Stiiizy cannabis dispensary branch.
The incident occurred on September 9 at around 3:06 a.m. in the 1700 block of San Pablo Avenue, where the suspects, aged 22 and 36, allegedly opened fire on a Kia sedan, prompting return fire from at least one person in the vehicle.
Esquibell, described by police as an innocent bystander, was caught in the crossfire and killed. An online fundraiser confirmed his role as a manager at Stiiizy, a popular marijuana dispensary chain.
