On-the-go charging in Ireland is improving, but still has a long way to go.
Time is a major factor for electric vehicles (EVs), as charging can be time-consuming, unlike filling up a combustion-engined car.
However, the network of chargers is expanding, with 50kW fast chargers being replaced by 150kW, 200kW, and 350kW ultra-fast chargers.
These ultra-fast chargers can charge an EV to get it back on the road in under 20 minutes.
For example, the Xpeng G6 electric SUV can charge at 451kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 12 minutes.
Time is the enemy of an EV.
