Iceland and Germany have signed a letter of intent to deepen their defense cooperation, focusing on increased security efforts in the High North and the North Atlantic.
"We are ready to assume greater responsibility for stability and security in the High North," said German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius.
"The German Navy will deploy its frigates, submarines, and new maritime patrol aircraft for situational awareness in the North Atlantic," added Pistorius.
The agreement was signed by Icelandic Defense Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, signaling a significant step toward broader and deeper security cooperation in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions.
