Teachers across Iceland, from Reykjavik to the most remote communities, will soon have access to Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant. This initiative, a collaboration between Anthropic and Iceland’s Ministry of Education and Children, represents one of the first national pilots aimed at integrating AI into education.
Along with access to Claude, educators will receive specialized training, support resources, and ongoing mentorship designed to help them incorporate AI into their teaching effectively.
“This initiative exemplifies how governments can harness AI to enhance public services while preserving their core values. For too long, teachers have been weighed down by paperwork and administrative tasks — hidden burdens that pull them away from what they do best: teaching,” said Anthropic’s Head of Public Sector, Thiyagu Ramasamy.
“It is developing at a tremendous pace, and it is important to harness its power while at the same time preventing harm. It will affect education just like other fields,” added Guðmundur Ingi Kristinsson, Iceland's Minister of Education and Children.
Hundreds of teachers are expected to benefit from the AI technology and guided instruction, aiming to transform educational practices and reduce administrative burdens.
Summary: Iceland’s new AI education pilot with Anthropic provides teachers nationwide with Claude, comprehensive training, and support to revolutionize teaching and reduce administrative workload.
