Toronto Parking Authority and Toronto Hydro accelerate Toronto's EV future with 500 charging stations

Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) and Toronto Hydro are advancing the city’s clean transportation goals with the activation of the 500th electric vehicle (EV) charging station. This achievement marks a significant step in Toronto’s path toward an electrified transportation network.

Located at Green P Carpark 504, 9 Willingdon Blvd., the latest charger expands access to Canada’s largest municipally owned EV charging network. The network has been developed through close cooperation between TPA and Toronto Hydro, ensuring that both residents and visitors benefit from accessible and convenient charging options across the city.

“Together, we're helping make electric transportation more accessible and convenient for residents and visitors.” — Toronto Parking Authority and Toronto Hydro

TPA leads the expansion and management of Toronto’s EV charging infrastructure, supporting the city’s move toward cleaner mobility. Toronto Hydro initially launched the network, having installed, owned, and operated its first set of EV charging stations before transferring ownership to TPA in 2023. Since then, Toronto Hydro has continued to support the city’s electrification efforts, providing reliable energy solutions for a sustainable urban future.

In partnership with the City of Toronto, Toronto Hydro installed its first EV charger in October 2020, marking the beginning of a broad municipal effort to promote electric transportation.
