John Daniel Steinke, 56, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born on October 30, 1969, at St. Catherines Hospital in McCook, Nebraska, to John Robert Steinke and Kay Graham Steinke. His brother Kurt was born in 1972. The family lived in McCook until 1974, then moved to Waukee, Iowa.
John was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In high school, he participated in football, wrestling, and track, graduating in 1988. He attended the University of Nebraska for three years before starting his career.
John worked in data communications as a voice, data, and video technician. Throughout his career, he was employed by US West Communications, Computer Cable Connection, Baker Electric, Tri City Electric, ABC Electric, ABC Electrical Services, and Baker Group. Many friends and family trusted his expertise in wiring and phone systems. He was a dedicated member of the IBEW Local 347 for nearly 25 years.
