The British chef famous for his affinity for linen and sauvignon blanc is set to launch his Australian flagship restaurant. Rick Stein’s first Sydney restaurant will open its doors on December 1, offering an early Christmas treat.
Located above the sands of Coogee Beach, the venue is part of a multimillion-dollar refurbishment of the InterContinental Hotel. [translate:Rick Stein At Coogee] will serve as the local flagship for Rick Stein and his wife, Sarah, who also manage restaurants in regional NSW, including Bannisters by the Sea in Mollymook and Bannisters Port Stephens.
“Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” Stein said. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
The first menu, crafted under the guidance of head chef Colin Chun (formerly of W Taipei), will focus on local, seasonal seafood. The space will accommodate both casual and more upscale dining experiences, complemented by an adjoining bar.
Reservations are now available at ricksteinatcoogeebeach.com.au.
