The present-day Lao PDR draws its historic and cultural roots from the kingdom of Lan Xang Hom Khao, known as the Kingdom of a Million Elephants Under the White Parasol. This kingdom thrived for four centuries, becoming one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
Today, Laos provides truly authentic experiences with its friendly and welcoming people. Known as "Untouched Nature," approximately 40% of Laos is covered by forests, and the country boasts 20 National Protected Areas dedicated to preserving its environment and rare wildlife.
